Pre-Admission
Everything you need to know to ensure a smooth, comfortable experience with us.
Pre-Admission Testing
At Apex Specialty Care, we want you to feel fully prepared and informed before your upcoming surgery. That's why we encourage you to schedule your Pre-Admission Testing 2 to 10 days before your surgery date.
Your physician will determine which specific tests are needed based on your medical condition, age, and procedure. These tests typically include blood work, urinalysis, an EKG, or a chest X-ray. The appointment usually takes between 45 minutes to an hour.
What To Bring With You
To make your admissions process as smooth as possible on the day of testing and the day of surgery, be sure to bring:
- Driver's license or a government-issued photo ID.
- Your Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance cards.
- Your doctor's orders or instructions.
- Medications: A complete list of all current prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements, including strength and frequency. Keep prescription medications in their original bottles.
- Your Advance Directive, if you have one.
- Special equipment, such as a CPAP machine, if instructed.
- Sleepwear, slippers, deodorant, and basic toiletries if you are staying overnight.
What To Leave At Home
Please do not bring jewelry, large amounts of cash, or other valuables. We are not responsible for lost or damaged valuables while in the hospital.
